IT company Tesco has decided to stop offering its VoIP telephone IT service on 27 April because of the fact that users don't seem to be that much interested and technology has evolved since the service was launched back in 2006. The Internet using service provided free calls between Tesco Internet Phones, and 2p-per-minute calls to landlines in the UK, USA, China, Ireland and Canada. A spokesperson from Tesco said that "We found Tesco customers weren’t really using it and taking it up. We launched the service quite a while ago now and technology and communications have moved forward a long way.” Customers that paid for outstanding credit and handsets in the past three months will get their money back. The IT service included choosing your own VoIP phone number and people that wanted to benefit from better offers from different area codes had the possibility to change their area code.
