Street View Images Have to Be Dumped after Six Months

Littlefish News

IT company Google has been told by the European Union to change the way it does things with its IT service Street View that works on the Internet and which can be used by anyone with IT connectivity. This action means that the data Google captures through Street View has to be erased after six months. This IT service has been a target for a long time because of the fact that it doesn't conceal identities as it should. This means that even though the IT company blurs the faces of the people present in those certain photos, it keeps the original information in its archives. Google said that the reason it  holds the images for a year is the fact that it could repair a problem such as blurring the wrong part of the image. EU Justice Commissioner Viviane Reding said that "In Europe, we have high standards for data protection. I expect that all companies play according to the rules of the game. Last year, we saw the same thing, when Google was keeping search data for more than six months and they changed it after pressure from the EC."
