Security Chiefs Implored to Join Integrated Overture

Littlefish News

Based on a benchmarking study by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC),  IT security should take an effort to integrate with other corporate security functions. Steve Wright, security and business continuity management leader at PwC, said that their research revealed IT security and corporate security are not coordinated. With today's widespread cyber attacks, businesses should, by all means, promote IT security. Criminals are most likely to focus on some flaws in every possible way, thus making it more important to venture in "a more joined-up approach" from security and risk teams. Wrigt also said, "There is a silo mentality, in that we commonly find [these problems] all dealt with by different heads of department. This is not necessarily wrong, but it could be enhanced by someone looking holistically and co-ordinating, and looking at risk over different points." Wright also stated that the recession would compel business organizations to explore in areas wherein they could make considerable gains. In addition, he said that the joined corporate and IT security should be more centered on company security.
