Seagate sees its external drive as the frontrunner because majority of consumers don’t back up their PCs. On the other hand, consumers who do otherwise rarely even carry it out. Windows PCs have become the target of Seagate, creating a thin backup, known as the Replica backup system, which doesn’t require long back up processing time. The product is designed to make everything simple for users, allowing them to connect a single USB cable to the PC and then click OK to the software license. Terry Cunningham, senior VP of Seagate branded solutions, explained, "Our goal is to deliver solutions that provide thorough backup protection yet are easy to use, time-efficient, and simple to understand, and the Seagate Replica is about as easy as it gets.” Replica runs both in Vista and XP, 0.5 lb in weight, and is approximately 5.5 by 4 by 0.72 inches. Users can use it with USB 2.0 connection, transmitting data at a speed of 480 Mbps. It costs $130 for a 250-GB model, useable in one PC, and $200 for 500-GB edition. The latter supports multiple computers.
