Twitter’s popularity has taken its toll on some web users, particularly those who live in the limelight. New York Jets receiver David Clowney was benched after posting a Twitter update criticizing coach Rex Ryan. The Texas Tech team was barred from tweeting after one of its players posted nasty updates about the coach. Even the Miami Heat was ordered not to tweet while on court. It's "a bunch of narcissists that want to sit and type stuff about themselves all the time," said Texas Tech coach Mike Leach. "We'll put mirrors in some of their lockers if that's necessary but they don't have to Twitter,” he added. Texas Tech linebacker Marlon Williams tweeted why Leach could not be on time when the coach came in late for a meeting. Another player, team captain Brandon Carter, posted, "This is not how I saw our season." The message resulted to Carter’s suspension. Meanwhile, David Clowney remained on the bench during New York Jets’ win over Tennessee for tweeting against his coach. "1 play in the 1st Half, 4 plays in the 2nd half ... A bit disappointed about my playing time but very happy and satisfied about the win,” his Twitter status update said. Clowney’s coach Rex Ryan explained his side saying, "I was upset with him, yep. "For a couple of reasons. One of them is you'll hear things if a guy's unhappy or whatever. I'm not a big Twitter guy, but you hear different things."
