Opera Founder Claims Web Has to Catch up with Browser

Littlefish News

Co-founder of IT company Opera, Jon von Tetzchner, thinks that its latest IT service, the desktop Internet browser, has some features that are ahead of their time. Unite was the thing that IT engineers from the IT company introduced last year to its browser and it has the power of turning any net-connected PC into a web server, giving users the possibility of sharing photos, music or other files without first having to upload them to a website. "Five years ago, when we started working on Unite, we were thinking what comes after the cloud. Are we ahead of where everyone is thinking? Yes. That's OK - it gives us time to prepare. Being too early doesn't need to be a problem, unless you give up," von Tetzchner said. When talking about Google and Google Chrome he said that "Google obviously has a lot of money. Over here in the UK, you've seen big ads and it's using channels such as YouTube to push Chrome. The more people realise there is a choice of browser, the better it is for us. When Chrome launched, we saw a 20% increase in downloads and it didn't really go down."
