Glassdoor Website Reveals Company Salaries

Glassdoor.com started with displaying the payments to thousands of empoyees in leading companies in the United States two months ago. The site has already published more than 50,000 company reviews and salary reports from 80 countries. There are no British salaries listed yet as the site has not been configured to display British pounds, but it will be adding the British salaries two weeks from now.

All the the salary entries of individual employees are kept anonymous. Only the names of the companies are revealed and the corresponding salary of each position they have. The key to the site’s growth is that to view the details, users have to submit their own salary or review. People seeking new jobs find this site very useful as it gives them a brief company overview and a look at how much they wll be earning if they work for a certain company.

One good feature Glassdoor offers is that all entries are checked for anomalies and unusual amount of salaries are flagged.  Users are required to give a verifiable e-mail address and malicious entries are challenged. Multiple entries from one computer are also barred and libelous statements are not allowed to be posted in the site.
