Game Sites Targeted by Mac Trojan Variant

Game Sites Targeted by Mac Trojan VariantSecurity researchers have identified an emerging variant of the Mac Trojan that changes the DNS settings of infected computers.

According to an expert at security firm Intego, the new variant is embedded in websites that maliciously offer legit game downloads. The original RSPlug Trojan was discovered on October of last year. Until very recently, the variant has been found on pornographic websites and pops up when users try to view a video.

Intego spokesman Peter James said, "We recommend that Mac users download software only from trusted sites. The spread of this Trojan horse is such that more and more sites will be providing it instead of real software, and it may become increasingly easy to get fooled."
