Security, Virtualization Top IT Organization's Priority List

Based on the research conducted by The Society for Information Management, security, server virtualization, as well as business-related technologies are among the main priorities of IT firms.

SIM conducted a survey which was particpated by 300 member organizations in June. Results showed that the top five applications and technology improvements next year consist of antivirus protection, business intelligence, business process management (BPM), continuity planning and disaster recovery, and server virtualization.

"Security was the top priority last year as well, but people are struggling with other areas such as business intelligence," Jerry Luftman, SIM vice president for academic affairs said.

Additionally, business intelligence and BPM come in the second and third place on the list of concerns among IT firms. Fourth on list are business continuity and disaster recovery followed by server virtualization.
