Hackers Strike at Thousands of Servers

Hackers Strike at Thousands of ServersKaspersky Lab has identified another cyber attack carried out mainly in Western Europe and the U.S. Hackers were detected to have embedded malicious code on around 10,000 servers.

The internet security company has no idea who was responsible for the hit which targeted exposed web accounts or employed SQL injection attack. Attackers duped the web site’s software into unintentionally running malevolent commands which preyed on 2,000 to 10,000 servers in the first two days alone.

According to CEO Eugene Kaspersky, a similar attack has been set off earlier this year. Kaspersky noted, "Things are still developing, and the similar nature of the malicious programs used in both attacks leads us to think this new wave of attacks is potentially pretty serious."
