UK Govenment Closes Down Tax Website Due To Data Leak
The UK government has closed down one of its major websites following a data leak which involves millions of passwords and personal data. The official website of the Department for Work and Pensions is believed to have been hacked after a memory stick containing classified information has been found in a public car park. Though the department maintains a highly constricted security within its premises, cybercriminals were still able to get around its security system and stole millions of confidential data.
The Department for Work and Pensions is the largest government department in the United Kingdom. It was formed on 2001, and is currently headed by Secretary of State for Work and Pensions.
