Businesses Incapable of Identifying Online Ad Fraud, Study Says
According to a research study, business organizations lack the technological advancement to spot online scams. The study, which was conducted by Harvard assistant professor and spyware researcher Benjamin Edelman, concluded that online ad schemes can transpire without the deployment of high-level spyware. What even alarming is that this also happens to cost-per-action advertisers.
Cost-per-action advertising or CPA is an online ad pricing model, where the advertiser pays for each specified action linked to the advertisement. As cited by Edelman, one reason why CPA fraud occurs is that online traders do not have the technical ability to spot online ad fraud. Edelman recommends that merchants should conduct a more meticulous evaluation on their statistics. He also suggests that a simpler way to report fraud should be deployed and companies should offer a reward for detecting associate scam. A test aimed to identify these scams should also be regularly facilitated.
