Mariposa Botnet Was Brought Down

Finally, an IT security threat that infected over 13 million PCs in Spain was brought down by the Spanish police. These very dangerous botnets makes IT services users think about getting their anti-virus up to date and also use remote backup when talking about their data security. So, three men that are suspected of being behind this scheme have been arrested. The botnet is called the Mariposa botnet and it stole data. This botnet made a lot of damage and scared a owners of computers in over 190 countries with a virus that had the role to steal credit card numbers and other information. Chris Davis, CEO of Defense Intelligence, said that "It was so nasty, we thought. We have to turn this off. We have to cut off the head." Mark Rasch, former head of the U.S. Department of Justice computer crimes unit said that "Mariposa's the biggest ever to be shut down, but this is only the tip of the iceberg. These things come up constantly."
