Financial Malware Gets Harder to Beat

A study has shown that despite the decline in new programs, crooks are still able to find their way around committing online fraud.

Though the research concluded that a downward trend is seen in the spreading of malware in bank and official group networks, the threat of having the networks breached is still fervent as malware writers are getting more clever.

What's even more disturbing is, authors of these malicious attacks are targetting companies going through consolidation and mergers in light of the recent economic downturn. Most of them are taking advantage of the fact that IT departments are facing mass lay offs and networks are not that securely monitored.

Panda Labs noted that economic setbacks highly affect the rise in malware attacks. The value of malware is directly proportional to the amount of money being stashed away from people on the internet; hence, malware writers could see their profits dive. If these writers see a lesser success rate in their malware and are generating  smaller revenues, they have the propensity to create even more.
