New Trojan Lurks, Disguises as Microsoft Email

Microsoft is now being used by cybercriminals to easily prey users by sending fake phishing emails disguised as a message coming from the company but actually contains a "backdoor" Trojan. It has a very catchy subject line that reads, “Security Update for OS Microsoft Windows”, which trick users to open the email. The emails claim to be from the Microsoft Update Center with the email address securityassurance@microsoft.com.
Users are duped to download an attachment which in reality, is a malicious file. It is a “Trojan.Backdoor.Haxdoor" malware that turns PCs into bots. It also allows crooks to get through corporate networks.
SANS Internet Storm Center has reportedly received five reports warning them of the virus. The email deploys a combination of social engineering techniques.
