Single Trojan Dominates Attacks Made in September

Fortinet, the pioneer and leading provider of unified threat management (UTM) solutions, revealed that Rogue Security Trojan has accounted for 60% of malware infections in September. The top four spots were seized by variants of the said Trojan.

Rogue Security is a software that uses malware, or malicious tools, to advertise or install itself. It often installs and uses a Trojan horse to download a trial version, or it will perform other exploits on a machine that are detrimental including radically slowing down the computer.

According to Fortinet, RogueSecurity's level of activity is comparable to that of the Storm virus which launch a series of attacks earlier this year. Furthermore, most of the malware activity took place in the second and third week of the month, with the W32/Inject.GZW!tr.bdr Trojan leading at about  two million in the middle of the month.
