Lingering Capita threats of job cuts affecting staff moral

Littlefish News

After IT support company Capita made the initial threat that 1000 staff members would lost their jobs in March, today however, those who could be affected by the cuts are still waiting for a final decision on their futures as those plans subsequently did not materialise at that time. The redundancy programseems to havefallen very behind schedule and as it has been actioned, plans have not run as smoothly as expected. Capita claims therestructuring is running to schedule. The Farnborough office closed mid-May and its 200 employees have been transferred to the Basingstoke and Reading offices, insiders state that the moral is very low internally. There are rumours running around about who will lose their jobs and who will get to retain them, usually it is those who want to stay who are being told they are likely to go- though IT company Capita itself has not made any formal announcement itself.Capita has confirmed the cuts are part of the Unity Program which includes outsourcing jobs to Pune in India. This is being carried out in an attempt to streamline the business.
