Lethic botnet has had its servers knocked out by a team that fights against spam and that is IT security firm Neustar and broadband providers. It seems that the devices that were used for unlicensed pharmaceutical, diploma and replica goods spam have sent at least one in 10 of junk emails that everyone in the world gets. That's why antispam is an IT service needed by IT connectivity users.
The thing is that devices from the Lethic botnet want to contact new servers, according to IT company M86 which is a security firm. M86 wants to have the Lethic drones permanently down. The Lethic takedown is unlikely to have a long-term effect on spam levels because of the fact that miscreants have built cybercrime networks which use URL rotation or P2P networks communication.
