According to a recent study, IT employees have been hit hard by the cost-cutting measures taken by companies to battle recession. Around 30 percent of IT support staff are getting pay cuts, the research says.

The Keep Britain Working group counducted the survey, wherein 54 percent of UK workers were found to be dealing with salary deductions as firms try to trim down costs to keep their businesses afloat during harsh economic times.

About 24 of the survey respondents said they were asked to cut their work hours and another 24 percent admitted their work benefits were reduced. Of these respondents, 30 percent were IT workers who have seen payroll reduction and 22 percent have had their work hours scaled down.

Many IT employees also acknowledged the fact that they have been given more responsibilities, and some were even offered leave without pay.

Keep Britain Working James Reed said, "The UK workforce has demonstrated unprecedented flexibility during this recession, allowing organisations to explore a whole range of cost-cutting responses other than relying solely on redundancies."
