The number of IT support employees are continuously dropping, a trend that started way back December.
However, IT scouts are positive about the industry’s future and sees a near end to IT job drought. Most of them believe unemployment will continue through the summer, but will cave in over the coming months.
TechServe CEO Mark Roberts said, "I think we are definitely going to see a solid year of decline."
Roberts added when companies begin tto hire, they will most probably choose contractual employees over permanent ones becaue they will be quite guarded after surviving recession.
Steve Watson, international chairman and managing director of recruiting firm Stanton Chase International in Dallas, said there will be more declared reduncies, but this will eventually stop at the end of 2009. He sees an increase in demand for corporate and government IT projects.
