US IT Employment Spirals Despite Recession

US IT Employment Spirals Despite RecessionTechAmerica says that the number of people hired to provide IT support in the US has significantly increased last year.  Some IT workers may have lost their jobs during the last quarter of 2008, but this did not affect the overall employment rate in the country.

According to a report filed by the Cyberstates, the IT industry added 77,000 net jobs in 2008, generating a total of 5.9 million tech experts.  This is attributed to the considerable volume of software service providers as well as engineering and tech services employees.

The increases in these sectors make up for the job losses across the IT industry.  In manufacturing alone, 23,100 jobs were reported to have been sacked.  The communicatins services sector also recorded 12,700 job retrenchments.
