Data Security Takes 10% of IT Operating Budgets

Forrester Research analysts say companies spend 10 percent of their operating budgets on protecting their system from data breaches. With the rising number of cyber attacks, it's no surprise firms are devoting much of their budget on data security.
The latest figures for data security spending show an 8% boost from that of last year. More and more organizations are even splurging copiously on IT support in general. This is widely attributed to the recent increase in malicious attacks on several networks.
Security has been the primary concern of CIO's for the last four years, according to Forrester surveys. This is also partly because of IT professionals who stipulate that security deserves greater attention, and CEO's are beginning to get it. The challenges faced by companies on data security are countless that spending just a tenth of their budgets is nothing compared to a far larger damage if they choose to leave their networks unprotected.
