Microsoft Launches Online Productivity Services

Microsoft recently introduced online versions of various key Office products to enable UK businesses to get a monthly subscription instead of making an upfront payment for local software installation and purchases. Products include Exchange, SharePoint, Office Live Meeting and Office Communications.
 

The new set of services is known as Business Productivity Online Suite (BPOS), which can be obtained by UK companies today. Customers can then take advantage of a 30-day trial before paying for the official version. Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Office Live Meeting and Office Communications Online can be bought as a suite individually. 

 

UK BPOS marketing manager Gill Le Fevre said, "Our software and services strategy lets customers decide how they want to invest in IT, whether they want to operate servers themselves or let Microsoft host services such as Exchange and let us take care of all updates and patches."

 

Getting the online products is more like using the installed versions, according to Microsoft. Customers can buy BPOS suite for  £10.04 per month.
