UK Retailers Fail to Make Cross-Border Sales

A new EU study revealed that European e-commerce businesses fall short in conquering cross-border commerce.

The study showed that about 75 per cent of retailers are not offering sales on other EU countries. This is inspite of the 40 percent rate on consumers willing to shop beyond borders.

European consumer affairs commissioner Meglena Kuneva said, "Our goal is that consumers should be able to benefit from buying the best quality at the cheapest price no matter where in the internal market these goods or services might be on sale. And it should be easy for the retailers to sell their products or services wherever the demand is within the internal market."

Kuneva is certain that the possibility of more internal market incorporation in e-commerce is substantial.
