Based on a survey made by AFCOM Data Center Institute, data center budgets are showing an increase of around percent this year. The online survey was participated by 200 senior-level IT executives where aprroximately 80 percent plan to expand in the forthcoming months.
All of the respondents were employees of firms with a minimum of billion in annual revenue and/or at least 5,000 employees. The survey showed that space requirements of data centers that are yet to be developed are increasing by 16% year over year, averaging 21,000 square feet in 2009.
Another research done by Digital Reality Trust concluded that 84 percent of valuated firms intend to beef up their data centers in the next 12 to 14 months. Around 64 percent plan to do the same this year, placing the data centers in one or two areas. Moreover, the survey revealed that the business organizations surveyed allocates 35 percent of their IT budget for data centers.
