LG has introduced a touch-screen phone designed to compete with today’s leading touch-screen handsets.
The company has not disclosed how much the unit would cost, but LG promised an affordable introduction price. KP500 will not highlight some characteristics of handsets such asSamsung Omnia, HTC Touch, and iPhone 3G, but the device is anticipated to lure cunsumers with its handsome features.
Skott Ahn, president and CEO of LG’s mobile communications company, said, "The feedback we receive from consumers around the world indicates that there’s more people who wish to try the latest touch-screen phones. We want to reach out to this group and LG KP500 is our answer to deliver a high-quality, full touch-screen phone that is easy to use and much easier to afford."
LG KP500 stands at 11.9 mm of thickness and uses the the latest reincarnation of the proprietary LG Flash-based UI. The user interface is thumb-optimized, but a stylus is also provided to assist handwriting recognition. It has no 3G support, but there’s quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE for internet connectivity. In addition, the unit sports a 3 megapixel fixed focus camera, with a 3-inch wide touch screen display and a resolution of 240 x 400 pixels.
