Acer UK Boosts Prices

Acer PC trade prices in UK have been increased which is attributed to the dollar rebound. For the past couple of weeks the pound has taken a slump at 10 percent amounting to $1.75 from almost $2.00 the previous year. Price changes went up to five to eight percent varying on the products. The increase is expected to take effect on October.
An official statement from Acer said, "price change is the result of the recovery of the USD with relation to most major currencies. This change directly affects PC prices as the majority of PC components are priced in USD. We have met with each distribution partner to make them aware of this change and have worked with them on their stock profile to ensure they are in a competitive position in the channel."
Acer is the third largest computer manufacturer in the world (by sales) trailing HP and Dell Inc. Its product lineup includes desktop and laptops, as well as personal digital assistants (PDAs), servers and storage, displays, peripherals, and e-business services for business, government, education, and home users.
