More and more Windows Vista users have opted to upgrade to SP1. This may be attributed to the operating system’s serious flaws which prompted users to clamor for any available update. Meanwhile, XP owners tend to stall when it comes to updating their system as most of them do not feel the need to get the latest version, SP3. 66% of Vista users have reportedly grabbed SP1 while only 47% of XP users has updated to SP3. These numbers may look good for Vista, but the bigger picture is, XP users may be more satisfied with Windows SP2 while Vista users are in dire need to get the latest update because they feel that this could fix the problems with the platform. Microsoft may also have caused the service pack uptake difference as they have been focusing more on promoting Vista SP1 and barely even mentioning XP SP3.
