Microsoft Develops Windows Live Messenger 9.0

Windows Live Messenger, formerly MSN Messenger, will have a newer version which will allow users to create multi-user chat rooms and share photos among members. It will also feature a tighter integration with Microsoft’s Zune media player. Another new attribute will be the users’ ability to stay signed into the application from several computers also referred to as “Multiple Points of Presence Support”.
Windows Live Messenger 9.0 is currently in development and is expected to be shipped later this year or early next year. Internal builds are already at WLM 9 and includes many of the API components. Microsoft has team working on multi-person audio/video.They are also attempting to work out a way for WLM users to chat with AIM/XMPP/ICQ users like the way Yahoo! Messenger works now, and they have a basic internal version that works with Jabber. The lack of a definite release date may result to a waning interest on the newer version, but still a lot of users are looking forward to what this application has to offer.
