A free Wi- Fi network has been launced in London by O2. The network is currently available across Oxford Street, Regent Street, Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square, Piccadilly Circus and Parliament Square. This Wi- Fi IT support network has been organised between O2 and Westminster City Council, it is also available to all users in this area regardless of their current network provider. The project has been paid for entirely by O2, the network is free to users and will remain so after the Olympics. O2 is planning to get a return on their investment through targeted advertising. Users can access the network very simply, by filling out a single registration form. There are plans to extend the network to into Covent Garden and across other areas of Westminster. A chargeable Underground Wi-Fi network (currently free through the Olympic period) is also being established and should be available in 80 stations by the end of July.
