IT Managers Get Involved in Disaster Recovery Planning
A research from Symantec revealed that majority of IT executives are now more involved in disaster recovery planning than before.Symantec's study showed that around 67 percent of companies take the participation of their chief information officer, chief technology officer or IT director when it comes to disaster recovery schemes. This is attributed to the rising number of malware threats, data losses, and tighter government restrictions and laws on data privacy. Nevertheless, firms across the UK lack the involvement of their executive ranks in disaster recovery.
"It indicates perhaps that people are not taking disaster recovery as seriously as they should. It's an industry maturity thing which will get better," Symantec's senior technology director Darren Thomson said.
Thomson further said that IT executives need to promote disaster recovery strategies as part of fostering operational efficiency, and saving costs.
