A research by e-Skills UK revealed that IT leaders are focusing too much on cost cutting this year.

The survey was responded by 2,000 IT execs, where 61 percent said they will be putting more importance over cost reduction measures in 2009. Only eight percent said it will not be their first concern, and 31 percent admitted there wouldn't be any changes at all.

The survey results showed that the three most prioritized areas of businesses in Q1 this year include the strength of the pound, the cost of supplies and the availability of credit for themselves and consumers. Furthermore, around 90 percent of those polled said they would prefer finding ways to cut costs rather than downsizing their workforce.

Another survey result showed that majority of companies are not into new technologies like cloud computing, open source, software as a service and virtualisation.
