Trend Micro Dissuades Purchase of Antivirus Software
Security firm Trend Micros has suggested that computer users should stop buying antivirus products. This may sound odd, but the company has a rational explanational for such move.According to David Peterson, consumer segment director for Trend Micro's ANZ business, explains that only a few of the top 10 security threats are viruses. He considers a comprehensive antivirus software kit is applicable for dial up users as well as those who want to avoid threats from USB keys.
Peterson further stated that standalone AV products exist because of market demand. "I wish they wouldn't. I don't recommend buying antivirus products," he said.
