Acer Retrenches After Merger
Taiwan-based PC maker, Acer, has retrenched 30 and 40 jobs after the merger of its enterprise and client computing groups into one product division. Acer head of business product management, Robin Tang, disclosed that some jobs were actually overlapping and they were overstaffed for the past couple of years. The company has only one division, which they decided to disintegrate to provide better focus on every department.Acer is the third largest computer manufacturer in the world (by sales) after HP and Dell Inc. and its product lineup includes desktop and mobile PCs (laptops), as well as personal digital assistants (PDAs), servers and storage, displays, peripherals, and e-business services for business, government, education, and home users.
