Capita expressed concerns regarding the IT outsourcing of NHS tender for NHS 111 contracts. This comes alongside other private sector government service providers such as Serco and Care UK who have confirmed they are either not bidding or have pulled out of the bid for the 111 contracts.The NHS 111IT support tender is for the in the multi-million pound replacement programme to provide a new 24-hour 111 helpline. Capita stated that they believe the helpline can be improved and run more efficiently but the current tender does not allow for any improvements it is in fact likely to cause more problems for patients and users of the NHS than help. Capita also expressed concerns that the current tender does allow for any online interaction.The IT company also stated that it believed the NHS 111 was a good idea, but it was being rushed through and the current version moving forward is potentially dangerous. Captia has also asked the health secretary to delay the implementation as the risks are being ignored to allow for the project to run within the decided timeframe.Capita has not confirmed if they have officially withdrawn from the bidding but it is rumoured that this is the case.
