Computer virus side effect causes printers to malfunction

Littlefish News

A computer virus, named as the Milicenso has been confirmed as the culprit of the recent problems experienced by hundreds of companies throughout the US, India, Europe and South America. The malicious program was first discovered in 2010 and since then has been used frequently by hi- tech crime groups as it is a malware delivery vehicle for hire- blogged IT company Symantec. The virus can be contracted through an e-mail attachment, through a compromised website or by posing as a fake video decoder. Once infected the computer is subject to re-directed web traffic to adverts. The companies affected by the malware have reported that printer began printing out pages of gibberish. This was a side effect of the virus, the infection generated a file in the PCs printer queue and resulted in the printer wasting reams of paper printing the senseless pages of text. In some companies, hundreds of computers were affected simultaneously, wasting thousands of sheets of paper before IT support technicans couldrectify the problem. This IT security threat has now been addressed by the security firms, they have now updated their systems and programs so that Milicenso will be detected and any standing infections will be cleared.
