BT Disagrees with Rival ISPs on Rural Broadband

Littlefish News

IT company BT has responded at rival IT services providers after they sent a letter to broadband minister Ed Vaizey. The letter was talking about the big prices rival ISPs have to pay in order to access the poles and ducts of the IT company. The letter was signed by companies like TalkTalk, Virgin Media and others and it said that BT's prices and terms and conditions for physical infrastructure access (PIA) may affect the Government's plan that involves getting fast broadband to rural areas. The letter said that "We are unanimous in the belief that PIA will be a commercial and policy failure if BT's Openreach does not revise its prices. Moreover, we are united in the view that the IT product is unfit to proceed into commercial use." BT disagreed and said that "BT is the only company who has installed broadband equipment in exchanges serving the last 10% of the UK and so we would question whether these companies are genuinely interested in serving rural Britain given their track record."
