Facebook Launches New Facebook Publisher

Facebook Launches New Facebook PublisherSocial networking site Facebook has added yet another tool to give its users a way of controlling their privacy.

The latest version of Facebook Publisher lets account holders choose friends who could view their posts. According to Facebook engineer Olaoluwa Okelola, the version will prompt users who they want to share their status updates with. The feature also applies in pictures and videos posted on the members’ profile.

A lock icon at the lower right-hand corner of the Publisher page would let users use the privacy controls.

Principal analyst at Gabriel Consulting Group Inc., Dan Olds commented on Facebook’s new feature, claiming it could be useful for users who intend to post funny or destructive things against other people.

"Facebook’s new privacy options should be welcomed by users, particularly anyone who posts content that might not be, well, understood by their employer or their parents. With the new options, users can keep particular posts very private, to the degree that they can even hand-pick who can see the post. This should help them avoid embarrassing posts getting them in trouble with their bosses or family members," Olds said.
