A resident from Missouri filed a lawsuit against Time Warner Cable and Time Warner for compelling him to rent a cable box instead of permitting him to acquire it from another private company. Time Warner is implementing switched digital video which hinders customers to buy TiVO or CableCARDs. The switch was made to conserve bandwidth on their network. Unfortunately for Kansas City, the company already decided to proceed with the switch before the technology has been modified to work properly with CableCARDs.
Time Warner Cable is an American national cable television company that operates in 27 states and has 31 operating divisions. As of December 21, 2006, TWC has 13.4 million basic cable subscribers, 7.3 million Digital cable subscribers, 7.0 Road Runner residential subscribers, 2.5 million DVR subscribers, and 1.9 million Digital Phone subscribers.
