Ofcom has said that the increase in speed has been the result of overall improvements to networks to enable such connections were benefitting those on less extravagant contracts as well as people taking advantage of the superfast broadband speeds now available or the ISPs. This has meant that even customers who have not chosen to upgrade their packages to gain the better speeds have still seen improvement as their IT company ISP providers have improved their internal networks. Broadband speeds in the UK have more than doubled over the past four years as a result of the roll- out of superfast networks.
