Australia electronics dealer Ruslan Kogan creates IE7 tax for customers

Littlefish News

While rendering a new website for a site relaunch, Mr Kogan- the Chief Executive at Ruslan Kogan noted that the time it took for his team to create a website which would look normal on IE7 was equal to that in which the Chrome, Safari and Firefox pages were designed. To create the IE7 design, the web team needed constant information and were completely preoccupied rendering the website into what Kogan describes as an ancient browser for long periods of time.IE7 was released by IT company Microsoft in 2006. Since its release there have been two major updates released IE8 and IE9, IE10 is due for release in the autumn. Due to its age, IE7 is seen as a constant source of frustration Kogan and though it is still used by just under 3% of the worlds on- line community it is not safe, secure and reliable for current environments when compared to the newer browsers. For users of IE7, upon reaching the checkout, they will be greeted with a message that their purchase will incur a 6.8% tax. 0.1% for every month since its launch. The tax will be removed if they try and make the same purchase using a supported browser or newer version of IE.From an IT support perspective IE7 is not the browser of choice. But Kogans response to its use is less likely to be about the cost required to render a IE7 page as it is to stir up controversy and publicity- the IE7 tax is a great way to increase advertisement of the company.
