Yahoo To Launch Developer Platform

Yahoo is set to launch its platform designed for web developers this week, a move that aims to lure more site visitors. The platform is also part of Yahoo's scheme to add  social networking features to its websites.


With the recent changes in Yahoo, the company aims to generate more traffic to its sites through allowing users to share information about their interests and activities with other people. The new platform will also cover non-Yahoo sites to enable users to check what their friends are doing anywhere else in the web. In addition, third party sites will have the ability to publish user activity right back to Yahoo network.



The project compelled Yahoo to refurbish its properties to build an integrated platform.  Among the first few features released by the company are the Yahoo Profiles and Yahoo Social Platform. Moreover, the platform utilizes public API to combine user information from other social networking sites.
