Web Servers Don't Get Much Protection from Companies, Says Sophos
Security firm Sophos revealed that business organizations are not giving much effort in shielding their web servers from incursions, resulting to numerous cyberattacks.According to Mark Harris, Sophoslabs director, Linus-based servers are commonly facing threats because Linux administrators rarely install anti-virus software. Most of the administrators reckon that anti-virus software is unwarranted since Linux-based servers are intrinsically more protected if accurately configured. Another reason why administrators refuse to pack their servers with security applications is the impact it has on the servers' performance.
Sophos has traced 12,000 IP addresses infected with Linux/Rst-B virus in the past four months, proving the magnitude of the problem. Linux-based servers are used by more than half of the world's servers which are prone to cyber attacks since administrators are not aggressively protecting servers the way they should be.
