Microsoft Puts Up UK Tech Center
Microsoft is constructing three new tech centers in Europe in an effort to snag Google's spot in the search engine market. The centers will be located in Paris, London, and Munich.The company added an undisclosed amount to its annual $600 million budget. The investment is said to employ 2,000 engineers.
Steve Ballmer, Microsoft's chief executive, said, "We are the challenger, not the leader, in search, but we believe strongly that search is in its infancy and there is so much room for innovation," said chief executive Steve Ballmer, speaking in Paris.
For companies like Microsoft search is the key for unlocking huge new opportunities in advertising."
Microsoft holds only two percent of the search market in Europe trailing Google;s 7.9% share. The company's move is anticipated to, at least, closely compete with today's search market leader.
