Microsoft Distributes Laptops to Deprived Children
Computer technology giant Microsoft is giving out laptops to children coming from less developed countries. The laptops will be powered by Windows XP operating system and Intel processor.In Portugal, about 500,000 will be receiving the high technology. Some children in Peru will also be getting the laptops as part of the One Laptop Per Child program.
Microsoft has agreed to install its XP operating system on low-priced laptops. The devices will be circulated on countries with a majority of impoverished children.
Microsoft launched the Magellan Learning Suite project in Portugal which enables students in the country to have access to high technology. The company also announced its plan to shell out $235.5 million to carry computing solutions to students and teachers throughout the world.
