Intel Continues Investments Despite US Recession

Intel has announced it will continue to invest in products and services despite the ongoing US economy slump.


The company incurred $38.3 billion  in revenue last year and shelled out $5.8 billion on research and development. Intel also spent $5 billion on capital items such as property, plants, and equipment.



Intel's chairman Craig Barrett, said, "You can't save your way out of a recession, you have to invest your way out, and so we've always kept a rainy day plan to accommodate that." He also added that Intel's creditworthiness signified its ability to make acquisitions whenever there's a chance regardless of financial setbacks in the US economy. 



Intel is the world's leading chip manufacturer. Over 80% of the personal computers in use around the world today are based on Intel Architecture microprocessors. The company recorded a 10% increase in revenue from 2006 to 2007. The operating profit of the company was $8,216 million during fiscal year 2007, an increase of 45.4% over 2006. The net profit was $6,976 million in fiscal year 2007, an increase of 38.3% over 2006.
