Google Coordinates with NASA to Expand Web Range
Google is currently teaming up with NASA to build a novel communication system in space. Vint Cerf, Google vice-president and chief internet evangelist, is collaborating with the space agency to spread out the web's reach.Google Earth is now being used by NASA to establish communication between its astronauts and robotic spacecraft through point-to-point radio links.
Cerf is working with JPL or Jet Propulsion Laboratory to create a new comm system. The project, dubbed as Interplanetary Internet, will be tested in the Internet Space Station sometime in 2009. Cerf anticipates the complete use of such protocols in space missions will take place on 2010.
