Dell Trademark: A Work in Progress
Dell Trademark: A Work in Progress
After facing rejection from the U. S Patent and Trademark Office on "cloud computing", Dell is now working on other means to push the approval of the trademark. According to the examining attorney for the Patent Office, the term "cloud computing" was too generic to be accepted as trademark. The Patent Office further explained that the supposed trademark merely describes a feature and characteristic of Dell's services. The decision, however, is still initial so Dell has a chance to overturn the ruling.Dell was hoping to use cloud computing as trademark in connecting with computer hardware and services designed for data centers and high-performance computing. However, with its preliminay rejection from the Patent Office, Dell needs to think of a more suitable trademark that best describes its services.
