Cox Plans to Venture in Wireless Market

Some telecommunication companies rule the wireless market and now Cox Communications is planning to follow the same lead. Cox president, Patrick Esser, uncovered in the Freedom Foundation's annual tech policy summit that the cable company would be using its share of the 700-MHz spectrum to offer mobile content and services.
Cox is the third-largest cable television provider in the United States, serving more than 5.9 million customers, including 2.9 million digital cable subscribers, 3.5 million Internet subscribers, and 2.2 million digital telephone subscribers. Earlier this year , the company teamed up with Sony Electronics and other cable companies to create a platform that enables customers to access cable content on devices other than a set-top box.

Cox has not announced a definite schedule on the project, but as early as now, it is seen to have a major impact on the existing wireless carriers. It may have a rough start, but Cox will definitely find a way to steadily gain subscribers and compete in the wireless market.
