Citrix Trials BYO Computer Scheme
Citrix Trials BYO Computer Scheme
Citrix Systems is trying out a new program that would most benefit its employees. The company is giving out $2,100 per employee to get a laptop of their choice which will be used within the company's premises. The computer can both be for personal and business use. In addition, employees will be given a three-year service plan. Staffers who have signed up for the program already reached 200 who appears to be satisfied with the company's offer.
Despite having technical challenges, Citrix is still employing the scheme to promote "virtualisation" technology, which allows the company to run software programs it ees such as SAP for time sheets and Microsoft Exchange for email.
Pund-IT analyst Charles King described BYOC as a "very forward-looking strategy." He further said, "People tend to become very personally attached to their technology. Having the freedom to buy the kind of computer you want would be seen as a perk, and a happy employee is usually a productive one."
